About Live Oaks Club

Live Oaks Club is a residential neighborhood in the city of Lakeway, in the Lake Travis area of western Travis County, within the 78734 ZIP code. The neighborhood is named for the Live Oak golf course, the first course built as part of the Lakeway resort community.

Lakeway was developed beginning in the early 1960s on a 2,700-acre ranch formerly owned by Houston oilman Jack (Jake) Josey. Houston investors opened the Lakeway Inn and Marina in July 1963 and platted a residential community around it; property owners voted to incorporate the roughly 1,200-acre village of Lakeway in July 1974. The Live Oak course, designed by golf architect Leon Howard, was Lakeway's original 18-hole, par-72 course, and together with the later Yaupon course it now makes up the 36-hole Clubs of Lakeway.

Set on the limestone hills of the Balcones Canyonlands west of Austin, the neighborhood has mature live oak and cedar cover and lots that back to the golf course or overlook the surrounding Hill Country. Housing is largely established resale construction that reflects Lakeway's gradual build-out since the resort's founding rather than recent large-scale development.
