Spanish Oaks is a private, 24-hour guard-gated Hill Country golf community in the City of Bee Cave, Travis County, about 17 miles west of downtown Austin along State Highway 71. The community spans roughly 1,200 acres on the western edge of the Austin metro, and entry is controlled at two staffed gatehouses operating around the clock. Spanish Oaks is anchored by the private Spanish Oaks Golf Club, an 18-hole course designed by Bobby Weed that opened in October 2001. Golf Digest named the club's course Best New Private Course in America after opening, and Golfweek has ranked it among the top courses in Texas.
The community's site plan reflects a land-restoration program that ran alongside course construction, including reclamation of native Hill Country grasses and removal of cedar overgrowth.
